About Mark
MARK IS A NATIONALLY BOARD CERTIFIED AND LICENSED ACUPUNTURISTI live my life in widening circles
that reach out across the world. I may not complete this last one but I give myself to it. I circle around God, around the primordial tower. I’ve been circling for thousands of years and I still don’t know: am I a falcon, a storm, or a great song? - Rainer Maria Rilke |
Growing up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mark was interested in Chinese culture from an early age. It may have been a simple lunch of wonton soup that his mother took him to when he was in third grade or the family trip to Epcot Center where he saw a 360 degree movie about China that sparked his interest. Mark did his undergraduate education at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. He first visited China in the summer after his first year and returned to spend his junior year in Beijing. During this year, Mark first experienced acupuncture and watched the pro-democracy demonstrations in Tiananmen Square.
He returned to Pennsylvania and graduated in 1990, cum laude with a BA in East Asian Studies. After spending a year teaching English in Taiwan, Mark attended graduate school at the University of Iowa and received a Masters Degree in Anthropology focused on Chinese food systems and health. Mark also completed a Masters in Education while at the University of Iowa. He taught high school in New York City and the Hudson Valley for 5 years before deciding to pursue his passion and attend The Academy for Five Element Acupuncture. He received his Masters of Acupuncture (M. Ac.) in January of 2005. He has been certified as a Diplomate of Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) since March 16, 2005 and has been a National Acupuncture Detoxification Association Specialist since July 31, 2004. He has held a North Carolina Acupuncture License (#327) since May 13, 2005 and a Tennessee Acupuncture License (#282) since June 2015.

...This experience has opened me to acupuncture as a regular practice, while reliving physical pain and fostering self love for my self on a physical/emotional/spiritual level. I can't praise Mark enough for his professional approach, attention to me as an individual, and his ability to make you feel comfortable and effective in your own life simply by focusing on yourself for an hour a week. |
